My Top 10 Money-Saving Amazon Products for Moms
Have you ever wondered if Amazon is really cheaper then other stores? We all love the convenience, but would our dollars be better spent actually running to the store? Well, the answer is... maybe. I have found that Amazon is a great resource for many things, including reviews. But did you know that Amazon's prices change? Yep! Sometimes they change daily. They also change based on your zip code (if you live in a higher cost of living area, you'll see higher prices on Amazon!).
That's why it's important to know your prices, and what a good price in your area is, especially for items you buy often. You can also use a tracking website like camelcamelcamel to alert you when prices drop on items you are interested in purchasing!
There are some things that I've purchased recently. Today's prices might be very different, so keep checking and buy when you spot a good deal. The links in this post are affiliate links. That means if you click through and buy something, I get a small commission that helps keep this blog going. I only recommend things I love, though!
10 Money-Saving Amazon Items for Moms
One of those necessities we can't live without, dishwasher tabs can be pricey. Unless you are going to make your own tabs (which can invalidate your machine's warranty, so proceed with caution), you're left with trying to find the best deals in a slew of brands, features, and sizes. My tip: do some quick calculations to find out the price-per-tab. That will let you know which size pack is best.
I love Spot Shot! I have tried SO MANY carpet cleaners, and this one is best. By a LOT. Don't bother with the non-aerosol type, the can is what you want. You can read my full review of Spot Shot here.
Diapers on Amazon can be a HUGE money saver if you catch a great deal. I look about once a week at the diaper page to see if any deals are there. Like dishwasher tabs, it's easiest to compare brands and boxes if you check the price per diaper. In most cases, Amazon does that for you! You will also want to check for online coupons and Subscribe and Save deals- those can really add on to the savings. These are some prices I got recently.
Luvs Size 2- $12.58/box of 216 (.05/diaper) (This box is currently $31.12 at Walmart)
Pampers Swaddlers size 5 - $17.43/box of 124 (.14/diaper) (This box is currently $31.12 at Walmart)
We all have those moments where we wonder, right? Waiting can be torture, but when the tests are $8-$10 each, we also get the joy of the internal debate. Is it worth it? Should I just wait a couple days? You know what I mean, right?! Tell me I'm not the only one... Anyway, at less then .50 each, the debate is much easier and you can get answers when you want them. Cause really, who's got time for waiting?
Wondfo Pregnancy Tests -2 tests for $9.98 (.98 for the cheapest one at Walmart)
Pet products can add up fast! Even a few dollars savings can be a big deal. Below I have linked the products we use and the best prices I have gotten on Amazon recently. If you take a minute to browse for your pets products, you might be surprised how much you can save! I recently saw the Pet Armor I listed below for $6.98... and I didn't buy it right away. Next time I looked it was gone. I should have bought 3 or 4 immediately! That's how Amazon works sometimes, so don't give up if you don't find a killer deal immediately.
Pet Armor for dogs 22-45 lbs - $12.99/3 pack (Currently $15.57 at WalMart)
Purina Dog Chow Complete -42 lbs - $24.78 This price has doubled in the last week, so you really gotta watch!
My Canon Pixma 7520 printer is fantastic. It prints great photos and is easy on ink. But the Canon cartridges are expensive- over $40 per set (this model uses 6 individual cartridges). Amazon offers a selection of off-brand cartridges, and I've had good experiences with all the ones I have tried. It's easy to find the inks you need on Amazon, just enter your model number.
24pk/ 4 of each color - $29.98 Canon-brand ink for my printer is $40+ for one set!
Peppermint tea is one of my favorites. I drink 1 or 2 cups most days, except when it's really hot. Thus, I need cheap tea, because the $3-4 tea in most stores really adds up. I've ordered this 6-pack twice and been pleased with both the quality and the price. Check out other teas too- there are a lot of good deals to be had on Amazon!
When we first moved into our house, I spent some time looking for rugs. I needed a runner for the kitchen that would be long enough to be in front of the sink AND the dishwasher. It also had to be machine washable. My budget was small and I was shocked by the prices at many of the stores I visited. Enter, Amazon. I got a 6 foot long, rubber backed runner for $29.99! I have washed it multiple times and it's holding up great. Same for the extra long bathroom mat- it's exactly the length of the tub, so it doesn't matter what side of the tub the kids choose to jump out. It's 100% waterproof- it has gotten soaked and there's NOTHING on the floor underneath. Love it.
Magazine subscriptions may be one of Amazon's lesser-known areas to save. Amazon regularly has $5 subscription sales, giving you a year of your favorite magazine on Kindle or in print for just 5 bucks. I have subscribed to This Old House, Real Simple, DIY Magazine, and HGTV Magazine for this price. Food Network Magazine, Rachael Ray Everyday, Good Housekeeping, and others have been included in this sale at times as well. Just be sure to verify that you are subscribing to Print or Kindle versions (whichever you prefer! Your subscription will auto renew, but you can cancel the auto-renew after your first issue is delivered without affecting your subscription.
If you make your own essential oil blends, bug sprays, or cleaning supplies, you'll need bottles. Essential oils require certain types of bottles, and plastic is usually not recommended. Glass bottles can be pricey, and the best deals I've found are on Amazon. I'll be posting more about both cleaning supplies and essential oils soon.
So there you have it! My best money-saving Amazon items! What do you buy on Amazon and how much do you save? Leave me a comment and let me know, I'd love to hear about it.
